Jordan Lawrence Mott was a colorful journalist who wrote many pieces of fiction and non-fiction about Labrador and the North-West. After school he married, but later in 1912 sailed to China to Mrs. Francis Hewitt Bowne, she disguised as a cabin boy. After their divorces in 1928, they married. Like many writers of the North, Mott was an avid hiker, fisherman and traveler. He died of leukemia in 1931.
